The featured blog section of a Shopify store provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the latest or most popular blog posts, offering valuable content to the audience and driving traffic to the blog. By highlighting engaging articles, merchants can increase user engagement, establish authority in their niche, and foster a sense of community around the brand. In this section, we'll explore the various settings and customization options available for the featured blog section, empowering merchants to create compelling displays that attract visitors and encourage them to explore the blog further.
The Settings Overview offers a comprehensive look at all the customization options available within the 'Featured blog' section, providing the merchant with the tools to curate visually appealing displays that effectively showcase the blog content and drive engagement.
Make section full width: Allows the user to use the full width of the screen (small gaps are left at both ends that cannot be absorbed).
Enable accent article: Gives the user the option to accent one of the blogs. It will take effect when 2 or 3 articles are loaded. The accented article will always be the second one, counting from left to right.
Show date: Enables or disables the date appearing right below the blog posts.
Show excerpt: Enables or disables the excerpt if such has been input in the blog posts.
Show author: Enables or disables the author appearing right below the blog posts.
Number of blog posts to show: Gives the user the option to choose how many articles to be visible in this section. It can vary from 1 to 3.
Article content alignment: Gives control over the horizontal positioning of all the content. One of three possibilities is to be chosen: Left, Center or Right.
Media ratio on desktop: Gives control over the media ratio for the desktop version.
Media ratio on mobile: Gives control over the media ratio for the mobile version.
Color scheme: With that setting, the user can choose the color scheme of the 'Featured blog'. For more information on setting up the color schemes, refer to Theme settings → Colors → Schemes.
Blog: With that setting, a blog could be chosen. The blog posts part of the chosen blog will appear arranged by date, starting with the newest blog post on left to the oldest one on right. If manual arrangement is desired, the blog posts should be added one by one with Add Article blocks (for more information, please see down below). Note: The Blog setting will not take effect if an article block/ blocks has/ have been manually added, as the block is considered the preferred one.
Heading: Enter a heading for the section.
Caption: Enter a caption for the section.
Heading size: Gives control over the heading font size. One of three possibilities is to be chosen: Small, Medium or Large.
Horizontal content alignment: Gives control over the horizontal positioning of all the content. One of three possibilities is to be chosen: Left, Center or Right.
Button label: Enter a label for the button.
Button link: With that setting, the user can choose one of the store links or enter an external link for the button.
Article: With that setting, the user can select a specific blog post to show.
Featured image: An optional setting that allows the user to add an image for the article or overwrite the blog post image if such has been added.
